Chrysler Unveils Planned Models on Fiat Platforms

According to a product plan unveiled on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 by Chrysler vice president of product and planning, Joseph Veltri, approximately 56 percent of the vehicles sold by Chrysler in 2014 will be based on Fiat platforms.
CFO Richard Palmer has forecast an operating profit of $5 billion for the company by 2014, thanks to rising sales, new products, and a five-year plan that capitalizes on the company's strategic partnership with Fiat S.p.A.
Scheduled changes include a new interior for the 2010 Chrysler Sebringa mid-sized sedan as well as enhancements to the vehicles performance and handling characteristics. That same year, a re-designed Chrysler 300 will debut.
In 2012 the company will introduce a new compact sedan to be followed in 2013 by a new small bar based on Fiat's B platform, a new mid-sized crossover, and a replacement for the mid-sized Sebring. In 2014, look for an all-new version of the Town and Country minivan.
In the Jeep line, an all-new Grand Cherokee will hit showroom floors in 2010 with refreshed versions of the Patriot, Compass, and Wrangler (which will get a new interior and upgrades in 2011.) In 2013, a small SUV will join the Jeep line-up based on the Fiat Panda and in 2013 the Patriot will be replaced by a Fiat-based SUV with the Jeep Liberty destined for the same fate with a Fiat crossover.
The Dodge Avenger and Journey crossover will be refreshed for 2010 with a re-design slated for the Charger. That same brand year, Dodge will gain a full-sized crossover and the Durango will most likely be phased out. A compact sedan replacement for the Caliber will appear in 2012 and 2013 will bring a Fiat-based small and mid-sized sedan while ousting the Avenger. In 2014 there will be an all-new Grand Caravan minivan.
After 2011,the Dodge Dakota pickup will be discontinued, perhaps to be replaced by a mid-size truck on a car platform. Also look for the Ram brand to pick up small and large commercial vans on Fiat platforms in 2012
